The award-winning documentary Shunned: What it takes to be a woman is showing on a continuous loop at the LGBT Visitor Center in Miami Beach through June 30. The screening is free.
The 2014 film won Best Documentary at film festivals in Nevada and New York and tells the story of the trauma and struggles of a group of Trans women in the Philippines who compete in a pageant and along the way find strength in each other.
The film is showing on a continuous loop in the Center Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The center is located at 1130 Washington Ave., Miami Beach, FL 33139.
