Kick off your shoes and feel the sand in your toes as you watch the fireworks light up the sky to ring in the New Year on Eighth Street and Ocean Drive on Miami Beach at midnight on Tuesday, Dec. 31. Festivities are from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., with Jam on the Sand live music starting at 9 p.m. and fireworks at midnight.
Various local musicians and bands perform throughout the evening during the “Jam on the Sand.”
Before taking in the display, stroll Ocean Drive between Fifth and 14th streets, which will be closed to vehicular traffic. Take advantage and stroll the world-famous street, admiring the Art Deco hotels and crowds gathered to celebrate the New Year.
Ocean Drive (5 to 14 streets) no vehicular traffic, only pedestrian traffic, from Tuesday, December 31 at 7:00 a.m. through Thursday, January 2, 2013 at 7:00 a.m., during the New Year’s holiday.
Miami-Dade Transit’s South Beach Local (fare is 25 cents) will be operating on its normal route. Find a map here.
- All city-owned parking lots and garages operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
- Ocean Court and Collins Court (alleys) will be strictly enforced for emergency vehicle access.
- Residential parking zones citywide will be strictly enforced.
- Valet operations normally on Ocean Drive will be relocated to Collins Avenue.
