Love racing cars? Wish there was a place you could race — or watch races — without getting caught by the cops?
Well, there is. This is Miami, after all, the home of many fast car movie scenes.
Billing it as a safe alternative to dangerous and illegal street racing, the Homestead-Miami Speedway opens its track on certain dates they dubbed “Fast Lane Friday.” It’s a legal drag racing event open to all car enthusiasts 18 and older who have a valid driver’s license and proof of registration/insurance. Drivers will be able to race their cars against other street-legal cars on the drag strip as many times as they would like throughout the night.
Of course, there are regulations. Too many for me to list so just go to the website link above here for those.
Cost: $20 to race, $10 to watch, free for kids ages 12 and under.
The next dates are scheduled as follows:
- Jan. 12, 2018
- Feb. 2
- March 2
- April 6
- May 4
- June 1
Fast Lane Friday is open from 6 pm until Midnight.
Hours for this event are usually 6 pm to midnight, but please check their website for changes.
