The poet, community organizer and co-founder of the hip-hop arts program at the University of Wisconsin appears on Friday, March 23, at 8 p.m. The free event is part of Tigertail Productions’ teen spoken word project. It takes place at Books and Books, 265 Aragon Ave., Coral Gables.
On Saturday, Oct. 9, from 8 to 11 p.m., Sweat Records welcomes fans of all ages for a performance by Buddha. Also appearing will be Bway, Vurn, Will Brennan and more.

The Miami Light Project will present a free screening of the documentary film La Fabri-k, directed by Lisandro Perez-Rey, at 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 21, at the Light Box at Goldman Warehouse, 404 NW 26 St., Miami. Fabri-K tells the story of a group of Cuban hip-hop musicians.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the director and with Yrak Saenz of the rap group Doble Filo. Following the Q&A, guests will get a sneak peak at Perez-Rey’s next film, Boomtown Fever.
Two of the world’s young dance styles come together as Miami meets Mumbai! in a free dance performance at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 6, at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden, 2000 Convention Center Drive.
