The 13th annual Art of Storytelling Family Festival is a free month-long series throughout March and April sponsored by the Miami-Dade Library System.
The event featuring storytelling, dance performances, a gaming competition, an open mic night and mini-festivals.
The festival includes free family events, teen events, kids events, an art exhibit and workshops. The festivities culminate on Family Festival Day, April 27 at the Main Library, 101 West Flagler St., 33130. from 10 am. To 4:30 p.m.
FAMILY EVENTS
Tales Under the Stars
Grab a blanket and enjoy an evening of stories from around the world. Sharing tall tales and folklore are storytellers Mama Koku, Carrie Sue Ayvar and Lela Lombardo. In honor of this year’s exchange partner, there will be a Flamenco performance by Gyspy Cat on the grounds of the Deering Estate.

Once Upon a Time in Almeria

During the 1960s and 1970s, the region of Almeria in Spain, was host to dozens of filmmakers who constructed elaborate movie sets, invoking locations from the American Southwest to Bedouin Arabia. This series of photographs focuses on the architecture and locations used in classic films over the years.
WORKSHOPS
These storytelling workshops are designed to help parents, teachers, librarians and caregivers incorporate storytelling into the lives of children. Workshops are free. Registration required.
