The Miami-Dade Public Library System will present its 13th annual International Art of Storytelling Family Festival Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at the Main Library, 101 W. Flagler Street. The event is free.
The day will start with a storybook character parade at 10 am., and children through age 12 are invited to dress up as their favorite storybook character and join the parade. The first 100 children in costume will receive prizes.
The festival is the culmination of a month of festivities celebrating written and spoken words.
The day will feature entertainment, lots of professional storytelling, puppets shows, music, face-painting, crafts and more on multiple stages. There will be a special teen area. You can see the entire schedule here.
Among the featured performers and storytellers will be Bits N’ Pieces Puppet Theatre, Derek Burrows, Dianne de las Casas, Merlina the Storyteller, Mother Goose on the Loose, Reading Ready Storytellers, Shana Banana, Sherry Norfolk, Tamara Green, The Spanglish Wrangler, Magician Robert Hermens, Don Eduardo Juggling, Bahamas Junkanoo Shakers, Capoeira Dancers, Bollywood Dancers and Gypsy Cat Flamenco.
