The Speakeasy Theater Co. inside the Broadmoor Hotel on North Beach, is now home to the Tuesday night event Naked Angels, the country’s longest running cold read event from 8-10:30 p.m.
A weekly happening which runs from September through May, it offers local actors and those interested in being on stage, the opportunity to practice their craft. Three local writers present their scripts and audience members are cast in a cold read of the plays.
It’s a chance for actors, writers and musicians to workshop their projects in development and explore new characters, hear scripts read aloud to work out any kinks and exercise acting training.
Those wanting to be cast must arrive before 8:30 p.m. as casting is completed at that time. The evening then begins at 9 p.m. with either a musical or spoken word performance, followed by the reading of the three scripts and closing with another performance.
