Free Junior Ranger Day at Everglades National Park

Any kid (ages 8-12) can be a Junior Ranger for a day at Shark Valley or Royal Palm both inside Everglades National Park. Keep reading for details of the activities planned at both locations: 

  • Shark Valley from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm March 17:

Aspiring Junior Rangers (ages 8-12) and their families are invited to free ranger-led activities, including walks, talks, games and tours.  There will be open-house style activities and a free tram tour. Please note that the tram tour is available by reservation only; due to limited seating, park officials ask for a maximum of 1 adult per Junior Ranger. For additional information, or to register for the Junior Ranger tram, please call (305) 242-7753.

Bring your own lunch and plenty of water. Wear long pants, socks and closed-toed shoes. All participants will receive a Junior Ranger Activity Guide and a Junior Ranger Badge.

Shark Valley is at Everglades National Park (18 miles west of Krome on SW 8th Street), 36000 SW 8th Street, Miami, FL 33194.

  • Royal Palm from 10 a.m. to 3:30 pm March 17:

Aspiring Junior Rangers (ages 8-12) and their families are invited to free ranger-led activities, including walks, talks, games and tours. There will be open-house style activities, and free trolley rides between the Royal Palm area and the City of Homestead. For additional information, please call (305) 242-7753.

Royal Palm is at Everglades National Park (10 miles SW of Homestead), 40001 State Road 9336, Homestead, FL 33030.

This event is free but entrance to the park is $25 per personal vehicle (good for 1 week). If you enter the Florida City entrance by trolley, the fee is waived.
