Celebrate the season at free drive-thru YWCA Fall Festival

Celebrate the fall season, and Miami's version of cooler weather, at the YWCA's free Drive-Thru Fall Festival on Saturday, Nov. 21.

During the festivities, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., you can learn about the organization's many South Florida programs, enjoy food and music, and take the kids to a petting zoo. The event is taking place at the YWCA Intergenerational Center, 3450 NW 199th St., Miami Gardens.

The YWCA is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. One of the oldest and largest women’s organizations in the nation, it assists more than 2 million women, girls, and their families.

YWCA has been at the forefront of the most pressing social movements for more than 160 years — from voting rights to civil rights, from affordable housing to pay equity, from violence prevention to health-care reform.

Today, the organization combines programming and advocacy in order to generate institutional change in three key areas: racial justice and civil rights, empowerment and economic advancement of women and girls, and health and safety of women and girls.

Other outdoor fun this weekend:

Farmer's Markets are in full swing. Some are in-person while others remain as drive-thru options, but each week there are more choices. Click here for details on where to get fresh local produce, flowers and more!

Watch the Disney animated film, “Moana,” at Phillips Park in Coral Gables on Saturday night, or go to the drive-in. Those sites are still going strong. Click here for details.

Miami festivals/events that have been canceled

This past year has brought many firsts and never-before-seens. Now, it has canceled some of our favorite events.

Organizers have had to make tough decisions and take into account factors such as public safety, which is understandable. These events will have to wait for now, but hopefully they’ll be back soon! Click here to see if your favorite event is on the list!
