Free Thanksgiving food distributions

Thanksgiving is about food and kindness. In South Florida, various organizationsare exemplifying those features with opportunities for free turkeys and other food for a holiday feast.  Some events are open to the public. Others may feature eligibility requirements.

Free food distributions are in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach.

2024 holiday distributions

Miami-Dade

  • Registration is full. Turkeys distribution 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. November 16 while supplies last at Fulford United Methodist, 1900 Northeast 164th Street, North Miami Beach 33162
  • 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. November 16 while supplies last is a drive-through food distribution at Miami-Dade College Hialeah, 1780 W. 49th Street, Hialeah 33012
  • 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. Monday, November 18 walk  up food distribution while supplies last for residents of District 2 in North Miami with photo ID at North Miami Public Library, 835 NE 132nd St., North Miami 33161, RSVP requested
  • turkeys distribution 2 p.m. November 21 at Village of Allapattah YMCA while supplies last, 2370 NW 17 Avenue, Miami 33142
  • 11 a.m –  1 p.m. Saturday, November 23,  VOUS Church is offering food distributions while supplies last. The venue is  Hadley Park, 1350 NW 50th St., Miami. The event includes inflatables, games and dancing.  Information and registration is online
  • 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Saturday, November 23,
  • Turkey and food distribution while supplies last 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. November 23 with bounce house and games for youngsters. The Way Miami is at 14105 Southwest 184th Street, Miami 33177. The entrance is on SW 142 Avenue
  • 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Saturday, November 23, Thanksgiving food distribution with registration for tickets required, 6100 NW 24th Ave Miami 33142, 305-725-1713
  • Saturday, November 23 while supplies last Vive City Chapel, information is online. The distribution is intended for unemployed, newly arrived immigrant families, and single-parent families

Broward

  • For Broward residents with ID, Thanksgiving food distribution is 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday, November 23 while supplies last at Washington Park recreation, 5199 Pembroke Road, Hollywood 33020.  Donations are accepted 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. November 19-22, 954-987 0625, at 5648 Wiley St., Hollywood
  • Thanksgiving food distribution is 5:30 pm. November 26 at Thomas Park, 100 NW 8th Avenue, Dania Beach

Palm Beach County

  • Registration is required.  ThanksFeeding Family and Fun Day is 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, November 23, at Pompey Park, 1101 Northwest Second Street, Delray Beach 33444. Thanksgiving dinner food distribution for low income families, with a child or children, who must be present with the family at the event. Offered to eligible families while supplies last. Registration is required. The event includes bounce house,  balloon art , games, DJ and face painting
  • Turkey distribution is 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, November 23, at Sims Park, 209 NW Ninth Court, Boynton Beach 33435
  • Event is sold out. Drive through food distribution 10 a.m. – 1 p.m November 26 at St. Joseph's Episcopal, 3300 South Seacrest Boulevard, Boynton Beach 33435. Register online

Farm Share

Farm Share is a nonprofit organization that distributes fruits, vegetables and other food items at different venues in Florida, often at drive-up events. Free food items provided usually include fresh produce, nonperishable items and water. To obtain food, you need to arrive in a vehicle with a trunk or cargo bed. Information on drive-through pickups is online. First-come, first served. Financial donations are accepted via FarmShare.org.

Dial 2-1-1, a free referral line which offers free information about local resources and events, including food assistance in Broward, Miami-Dade and greater Palm Beach

Feeding South Florida

  • Sorting & Packing Experience: Volunteer to inspect, sort and repack donated food at Feeding South Florida venues in Pembroke Park and Feeding Palm Beach County in Boynton Beach. Each location is holding sorting/packing volunteer opportunities Tuesday–Saturday starting at 8:30 a.m.
  • Community Kitchen Experience: Volunteer to help prep, cook and pack meals in Feeding South Florida’s Community Kitchen at Feeding Palm Beach County. Volunteer opportunities are open to all individuals regardless of kitchen experience.
