Free and cheap Labor Day fun in Miami

The long Labor Day Weekend usually signals the end of summer so we've rounded up some ideas on how to make the most of those three days:

  • Visit Deering Estate. There's a special $8 admission on Labor Day Weekend. Click here for all the details.
  • Labor Day Community Celebration in North Miami a family-friendly event with water slides, music and food. Hosted by North Miami District 3 Councilwoman Mary Estime-Irvin. Monday, Sept. 7 from 3-8 p.m. at Griffing Park, 12220 Griffing Blvd., North Miami.
  • Spend the day two-wheeling through some of Miami's many bike trails, there are plenty to choose from in Miami. Click here to find one that's convenient for you.

  • Visit Gold Coast Railroad Museum in Kendall where it's always free on the first Saturday of the month. Click here for details.
  • Stroll through Downtown Coral Gables and do some gallery hopping during Gables Gallery Night, one of Miami's longest running monthly events. Click here for all the details.

  • Visit Zoo Miami and take advantage of their $15 Mondays discounted rate and enjoy their Florida Mission: Everglades area, the 27-acre exhibit Amazon & Beyond and the Wings of Asia Aviary. Click here for details.

  • Break out your Bank of America card, show it at one of six museums around Miami for free admission thanks to the Museums on Us Program. Click here for details.

  • Head to the beach, after all it is Miami and we've got some amazing ones. Get there early to grab a good spot. The boardwalk along Miami Beach stretches for miles or you can head to Key Biscayne and choose between Crandon Park Beach or go all the way to the end of the island where you'll find Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park.
