You don't need to be from a galaxy far away to delight in this event. Some organizations and recreation departments offer “Stars Wars Day” festivities for May the 4th, a whimsical wordplay on the iconic phrase associated with the blockbuster movies.

Las Olas Oceanside Park, Fort Lauderdale
Star Wars festivities are 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4 at Las Olas Oceanside Park is at 3000 E. Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale 33316.
Entry is free. The event includes
9 a.m. – 5 p.m. vendors
10 a.m. – 2 p.m. games
bubble wands, while supplies last
11 a.m. – 1 p.m. selfies with Darth, Luke and others
9 a.m. yoga deal, 2 for $10, register online
Parking
Parking is offered at lots and at Las Olas Beach Parking Garage, 200 Las Olas Circle, Fort Lauderdale 33316. Parking fees at the garage are usually $4 an hour.

Coral Springs
Bites-N-Sips features a Star Wars theme with Star Wars personalities from the 501 Legion 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, May 3 with food trucks and entertainment. Register for a dog costume contest prior to 5:45 p.m. at the official booth. Live entertainment features Livewire. Feel free to bring portable seats, leashed pets and reusable water bottles.

Broward Library Branches

Star Wars games for youngsters and families and personalities from the film are featured at the library at Nova Southeastern University, 3300 S. University Drive, Davie 33328.
The event is 2 p.m. Saturday, May 4, and entry is free. Reservations are recommended.
Dania branch
The Dania branch library, 954-357-7073, 1 Park Avenue East, Dania Beach, is featuring the film “Rogue One” 3 p.m. Saturday, May 4, and entry is free.
Museum of Discovery and Science in Fort Lauderdale
Entry fees apply. Discount opportunities are offered.
Festivities include Jabba the Hutt slime and other Star Wars activities and demonstrations. Personalities from 501st Legion Everglades Squad are offering autographs.
