Things to do in March in Miami-Dade

The Ides of March, shamrocks, four leaf clovers and green beer may immediately come to mind for March thanks to St. Patrick's Day, but there's much more to do than celebrate the March 17th holiday.

We do however, have a good list of St. Patrick's Day events around Miami-Dade County that you'll want to check out. They start as early as March 8 but a majority are taking place March 15-17. The big annual at John Martin's in Coral Gables and at the German American Social Club of Miami are back and lots of other venues and restaurants are hosting parties as well. Click here to see them all.

Also back is the annual Calle Ocho Music Festival on SW Eighth St. in Little Havana. On Sunday, March 9 the main drag between 12 and 27 avenues closes down from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and it's a party! 10 stages are set up throughout the festival and bands from representing all of Latin America perform as well as folkloric dance groups. International food, lots of games and plenty of giveaways round out the fun day. Click here for all the info.

Smack in the middle of the month, the annual Miami-Dade County Youth Fair returns to the Tamiami Park fairgrounds. From March 16 through April 6 enjoy a multitude of carnival rides, new food offerings, the circus, ice skating shows, pig races and plenty of student work exhibitions. There are plenty of discounts and deals throughout the fair's run. Click here to see them all and plan your outing.
