Florida tax-free shopping for back to school

Florida is offering shoppers some savings on eligible purchases of apparel, school supplies, and electronic devices like laptops, desktops and tablets.

Florida Back To School sales tax holiday is July 25 to August 7, 2022 when state sales tax is withheld on qualifying items. Students and non-students are welcome to purchase tax-exempt items.

In Florida, state sales taxes are 6 percent or $6 for every $100 spent.  Usually, in regions where additional local sales taxes are assessed, those taxes are waived. If you spend $250 on eligible items, you’ll save at least $15 in sales taxes.

Individual qualifying items must be within designated price limits.  School supplies of $50 or less. Apparel, footwear and accessories of $100 or less.  Computers and computer accessories for $1,500 or less.  There is no limit on eligible tax-exempt purchases as long as they are within the price limits.

If the price of an item is higher than the limit, the tax exemption does not apply.
