Critter & Craft: Scales and Tales

Are you ready for a fun, family-friendly day at the Nature Center to meet Citrus, an Everglades rat snake, and his other scaly friends? Participate in several snake-tacular activities and crafts at your own pace to learn about these amazing animals. This program is designed for kids.

  • When: Last Sunday of the month, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • Ages: All ages (with participating adult)
  • Cost: FREE, but space limited. Reservations required.
  • Be Prepared: This will be an indoor program.
  • Reservations required, please call the Nature Center to reserve your spot: 561-804-4985.

Take a hike through the cypress swamp. Be prepared to get wet and muddy! This hike is on a rugged trail that requires stepping over and ducking under vegetation and other obstacles. Expect knee-deep water levels.

Time: 10-11:30 a.m.
*Check in at the Nature Center 15 minutes prior to program start time.
Where: Grassy Waters Preserve, 8264 Northlake Blvd., West Palm Beach, Florida 33412
Ages: 8 and over (with participating adult)
Cost: 
$10 adult, $5 child
Be Prepared:
Wear closed-toe shoes that can get wet and muddy. Shoes should fit tightly enough not to be pulled off by the mud (water shoes or old sneakers are best).  Bring a water bottle, hat, sunscreen, towel, and change of clothes.
