Sam Cooke delivered a powerful performance at a club in Miami, recording a live album titled “One Night Stand” at the Harlem Square Club in early 1963. This recording captures a raw and intense performance that showcases Cooke’s gospel roots.
In 1985, the tracks were re-released as “Live at the Harlem Square Club, 1963.”
Today, this album is often considered one of the greatest live recordings ever made, celebrating Overtown's vibrant musical legacy. Overtown was pivotal in shaping the soul music scene in the 1960s, not only in Miami but also nationwide.
This special event is being presented by Hampton Art Lovers.
