Library branches in Broward occasionally feature free entertaining and events including live performances, yoga, and festivals.
Some events are for kids and families. Others are aimed at adults. At plenty of library branches, parking is free.

Emancipation Day Caribbean event in Fort Lauderdale
Freedom from slavery is in the Caribbean region is the occasion for festivities 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday, August 1 at African-American Library 2650 Sistrunk Boulevad, Fort Lauderdale 33311. The free event includes Melo Groove Steel Orchestra, Tallawah Jamaican Folk Revue, Mocko Jumbie Stilt Walkers, and Mecca Grimo.
Ukulele jams at two libraries
The Florida Ukulele Network hosts a ukulele jam at 10:30 a.m. the fourth Thursday of most months at West Regional Library, 8601 W. Broward Blvd., Plantation 33324. The event is presented by FUN Florida Ukulele Network. Play along and sing along if you'd like. For ages 15 and older.
The group also hosts a ukulele jam and singalong, play-along event at 6 p.m. the second Monday of the month at the sBroward Main Library, 100 S. Andrews Avenue, Fort Lauderdale. Parking fees are usually about $3 to $4 an hour. For ages 15 and older.

Salsa dance lessons
Free lessons for ages 18 and older from a professional instructor 2 p.m. August 1, 8 and 15 at Southwest Regional Library, 16835 Sheridan Street, Pembroke Pines 33331, Register online.
Seminole native flute and stories
Seminole Tribe performer Gordon Wareham is featured 10:30 a.m. August 20 at Pompano Beach Library, 50 Atlantic Boulevard, Pompano Beach 33060, register online

Interactive story for kids with Florida Grand Opera
Florida Grand Opera participates in an interactive story for kids 11 a.m. Saturday, July 18, including an aria performance and art project at the branch library in Miramar. Register online. The event is designed for youth ages 8 and younger.
The featured story is "Opera Cat." The library is at 2050 Civic Center Place, 33025
