The Miami Music Festival includes a number of free performances. The festival is an intensive training program for the next generation of classical musicians and is also known as the Miami Beach Classical Music Festival.
The festival includes the free Ocean Drive Promenade Music Series, free concerts on Sunday nights outdoors on Ocean Drive.
These are the performances happening in July 2022. Most are free but some require advance registration at a cost of $1 or $2.
July 7, 2022 Conductor’s Symphony Concert
Conductor’s Symphony Concert, featuring works from Montgomery, Mozart, Okpepholo, Verdi, Saint-Saens an Schumann. The concert is at 7: 30 p.m. at Temple Emanu-El and requires advance reservations. Cost per ticket totals $2.07. Temple Emanu-El is at 1701 Washington Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139.
July 10, 2022 Family-friendly performance of Mozart’s “The Magic Flute.”
This family-friendly performance of Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” was created specifically for young children and will include English dialogue and a singalong. 2 p.m. at Temple Emanu-El and requires advance reservations. July 13, 2022 Ukraine benefit concert
Benefit concert for the Ukraine, featuring works by Ukrainian, Tartar and Georgia composers. The concert is at 7: 30 p.m. at Temple Emanu-El and requires advance reservations. Cost per ticket totals $2.07. Temple Emanu-El is at 1701 Washington Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139.
July 15, 2022 Richard Wagner’s “Das Rheingold,”
Performer of Richard Wagner’s “Das Rheingold,” the prelude to the Ring Cycle. This performance is by the MMF Wagner Institute and is believed to be the first fully staged presentation of this work in South Florida. The event is at Temple House, 1415 Euclid Ave, Miami Beach, FL 33139. VIP tickets are $125 (general admission, at $50, is sold out.)
July 18, 2022 Chamber music by student musicians
Chamber music concert by student musicians. The performance is at 7:30 p.m. at The Betsy Hotel, and tickets are free. Reservations are suggested. The Betsy is at 1440 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach, FL 33139.
July 21 and July 23, 2022 “Carmen”
Performance of George Bizet’s opera “Carmen.” The show is at 7:30 p.m. at the Faena Forum, 3300-3398 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, FL 33140. Tickets are $1 (free for children under 18) and reservations are suggested. VIP tickets with valet parking at drinks are $75 plus fees.
July 22 and July 24, 2022 “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”
“A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” Benjamin Britten’s interpretation of the Shakespeare comedy. The show is at 7:30 p.m. July 22 and 1:30 p.m. July 24, at the Faena Forum, 3300-3398 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, FL 33140. Tickets are $1 (free for children under 18) and reservations are suggested. VIP tickets with valet parking at drinks are $75 plus fees.
July 23-24, 2022 “L’Orfeo”
The opera “L’Orfeo,” by Claudio Monteverdi. General admission tickets at $2.07 are sold out. The $75 VIP tickets are still available, with youth under 18 free. The show is at 1:30 p.m. July 23 and 5 p.m. July 24, at the Faena Forum, 3300-3398 Collins Ave., Miami Beach, FL 33140.
