The Miami Film Festival's Cuban Cinema Series returns to the Koubek Center, 2705 SW 27th Ave., Little Havana with a free screening of the documentary “Naranjo,” on Friday, May 22 at 7 p.m. Click here to RSVP for a free ticket.

This documentary by filmmaker Jorge A. Soliño spotlights the life of self-taught painter Orlando González Naranjo, born in Calabazar de Sagua, Las Villas, in 1937. It tells the story of exile, human fragility, and the power of art as an anchor and a homeland when everything else is lost.
The screening is preceded by Mario Garcia Montes' short film Space Cadet featuring 10 animated vignettes based on the classic castaway formula except it's set on a lost planet where a Space Cadet becomes the victim of pranks by extraterrestrials and other strange things unfamiliar to him.
