Free ‘Art of Transformation’ exhibits from Africa, Opa-Locka & Overtown

This free annual program coincides with Art Basel and Miami Art Week to explore issues in contemporary African and African Diaspora art.

There are various activities that bring artists of African descent from around the world to Miami in a series of exhibitions, panel discussions, performances and film projections. 

Art is being displayed at the following:

  • Opa-Locka, near the Art & Recreation Center at 675 Ali Baba Ave.
  • The Pavilion, 650 Ali Baba Ave., Opa-Locka
  • The Hurt Building, 490 Opa-Locka Blvd., Opa-Locka
  • Overtown CRA Satellite, 914 NW 2nd Ave., Miami

Dates & times of activities:

  • Thursday, Dec. 7, from 10 a.m. to noon
  • Friday, Dec. 8, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. 
  • Saturday, Dec. 9, from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. 
  • Sunday, Dec. 10, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Art of Transformation: AFRICA GLOBAL is the exhibits the diversity of African Diasporic communities and their varied experiences, taking place during Art Basel Miami Beach and Miami Art Week 2023.
