NWS Woodwind and Brass Fellows

If you appreciate classical music, here is a treat you won't want to miss.

Fellows of the New World Symphony, America's Orchestral Academy, present free preseason concerts taking place in the newly-christened Michael Tilson Thomas Performance Hall on Miami Beach.

Live performances are set for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 17; and 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 18, plus a bonus streaming concert from the Harlem Renaissance Festival, Sunday at 7 p.m.

New World Symphony 2022

New World Symphony’s 35th season begins with a luminous spotlight on its String Fellows featuring a program overflowing with a spirit of optimism, led by Steven Copes.

  • Hartmann: Concerto funebre
  • Dvorák: String Serenade

Sunday matinee

features NWS Woodwind and Brass Fellows who herald the start of a new season with guest conductor Timothy Higgins, principal trombone, San Francisco Symphony.

  • Tarrodi: Serenade in Seven Colors
  • Schmidt: Hommage à Stravinsky

Sunday evening streaming broadcast

September 18 at 7 p.m. will feature a first-ever collaboration with the New World Symphony and Boston-based public media producer GBH, who will present “I Dream a World: The Harlem Renaissance and Beyond,” streaming on the CRB Classical website.
