Free Frost Electroacoustic Music Ensemble concert

The University of Miami's Frost School of Music is hosting a wide variety of free concerts throughout the month of February. They include recitals of chamber music, percussion groups, jazz and other ensembles.

Here's the schedule of free events with campus location noted:

  • Feb. 5 at 7:30 p.m. Concert by Frost Percussion Group of percussion masterworks directed by Svet Stoyanov. UM Gusman Concert Hall
  • Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m. Flute studio recital at Weeks Center for Recording & Performance, Clarke Recital Hall
  • Feb. 16 at 4 p.m. Music U Want 2 Hear Too: Frost Symphonic Winds a concert conducted by Steven Moore featuring music by composers Williams, Ives, Hanson and Giannini as well as contemporary composers Gillingham and de Meij. UM Gusman Concert Hall
  • Feb. 21 at 5 p.m. Musica de Camara Latinoamericana: Frost Chamber Players Faculty Concert featuring 11 faculty musicians performing chamber music by Latin American composers from the 19th to 21st centuries. UM Gusman Concert Hall
  • Feb. 23 at 4 p.m. Henry Mancini Institute Chamber Concert of student compositions for mixed-genre ensemble highlighting improvisation coordinated by Stephen Guerra. UM Gusman Concert Hall
  • Feb. 24 at 6:30 p.m. Small Jazz Ensemble featuring Frost studio music and jazz musicians. Weeks Center for Recording & Performance, Clarke Recital Hall
  • Feb. 25 at 7:30 p.m. The Music of George Lewis: Ensemble Ibis with the school's Ensemble Ibis performing the music of composer/musicologist/trombonist and Distinguished Composer-in-Residence George Lewis, directed by Shawn Crouch. UM Gusman Concert Hall
  • Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m. Frost Electroacoustic Music Ensemble performs music by leading composers and Frost composition students directed by Juraj Kojs. The pieces incorporate new trends in electronic music. UM Gusman Concert Hall
  • Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m. Beethoven's Birthday Celebration: Cello and Piano Duo featuring cellist Ross Harbaugh and violinist Tian Ying performing No. 1 in F Major and No. 4 in C Major plus “The Magic Flute Variations. Weeks Center for Recording & Performance, Clarke Recital Hall
  • Feb. 27 at 7:30 p.m. Frost Stamps Scholars Ensembles Concert by the Stamps Woodwind, Brass, String and Jazz Quintets of music in classic and modern styles and grand finale of an original work by Frost composition student Wesley Thompson. UM Gusman Concert Hall
