Free paper shredding and safe prescription disposal are offered by Broward Sheriff's Office exclusively for Broward residents.
Shred-A-Thon events are intended to avoid identity theft by shredding personal papers with private information. The events also accept old unused prescription medications for safe disposal. In fact, incentives are offered for turning in prescriptions. The reward is a $5 gift card, one per family while supplies last.

Events are offered occasionally, usually 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at different venues. You can find out when shredding and prescription events are scheduled in your town here.
For shredding, you can drop off a maximum of two boxes per vehicle, with boxes up to 16-by-12-by-12 inches.
For information, phone 954-831-8902 or check the website schedule.
Free shredding is offered at Office Depot and Office Max in April 2024.
