Things to do in February in Miami-Dade

Valentine's Day evokes feelings of romance and fancy dinners with a loved one and President's Day marks an always welcomed long weekend. However, there's more to do in this second month of the year.

You can…

Take advantage of the cool weather and visit The Underline, where the first Saturday of the month, in February that's February 1, they host a Family Day. The linear park that extends under Miami's Metrorail line offers a fun day with music, food, yoga and fun activities for the whole family and on select other Saturdays they host a Farmer's Market. Watch colorful kites take over the skies at Haulover Park during the Kite Days Festival Feb. 15-17. The folks from Skyward Kites have been hosting the annual event for more than a decade where they host kite-building workshops and demonstrations and host a kite-flying competition. There's live music and food trucks too! Bring a blanket and chair and spend the day on the grass watching colorful kites fly high. Click here for all the info.

Listen to jazz music at one of Miami's longest-running monthly events Jazz at MOCA at the Museum of Contemporary Art's MOCA Plaza on the last Friday of the month. In the more than two decades they've presented greats like trumpet player Arturo Sandoval and singer Nicole Yarling. Lately, they have also been collaborating with local arts groups and showcasing dance performances alongside the musical performances. The Museum stays open late during this event and admission is by donation, making it a great opportunity to see their current exhibition.  Click here to see who will be showcased on Feb. 28.
