Morikami Museum showcases Japanese culture, Delray Beach

The Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach hosts seasonal special events that feature taiko drumming performances and other activities, including a seasonal sunset stroll. For more details, visit Sunset Stroll – Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens.

The seasonal Sunset Stroll is a rain-or-shine event, April-September.

Annual and ongoing activities and special events

  • Obon Festival

Guests are invited to take a leisurely stroll through the Morikami’s Roji-en gardens. Its six distinct gardens are inspired by, but are not replicas of significant gardens of Japan. They also include an expansive koi and turtle pond.

General museum admission tickets are only available at the door on the day of your visit. See the Hours & Admission page.

  • Adults (ages 18+): $16
  • Seniors (65+): $14
  • Military (with ID): $14
  • College Students (with ID): $12
  • Children (ages 6-17): $10*
  • Children 5 and under: FREE.

*Children under age 15 must be accompanied by an adult.

Note: Prices for special events vary from daily admission prices.

After-hours Sunset Stroll features:

  • Taiko drumming
  • Kimono fashion show
  • Iaido martial arts sword performances
  • A variety of cultural and culinary delights for sale

Tickets for after-hour strolls must be purchased online in advance. Limited capacity. The cost is $12 for guests, or $5 for children and members. Event will take place rain or shine and is held several times a year.

Sunset Stroll: Thursday, Sept. 11, 2025, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Space is limited. Rain or shine. Tickets will not be available for purchase at the door.

Discover the enchanting fusion of traditional Eastern-meets-Western style during The Journey of Japanese Fashion” in the Morikami Theater. Performances are at 5:50, 6:35, and 7:20 p.m.

Also:

  • Experience live taiko drumming by Fushu Daiko on the museum’s lakefront terrace. Performances are at 6:10 , 6:50, and 7:30 p.m.
  • Visit Yamato Island and sway to the peaceful melodies of ancient koto music performed by harpist Emiko Koto.
  • Kanpai! Raise a glass and savor premium artisanal sake from Japan (Niigata Sake Selections), complemented by Asian-inspired cuisine from Cornell Café, Kaminari Ramen, Ramen Lab, and Akiko-ya Traditional Japanese Sweets.
  • Food and beverages are purchased separately.
