Festivals & events in October in Broward

Oktoberfest, Halloween hooplas and Hispanic Heritage events  are among the array of delightful things to do in October in Broward, including plenty that are free or relatively inexpensive. Pumpkin patches, Fall festivals, and farmers markets are in abundance.

Truck Extravaganza for kids

Lots of interesting vehicles on wheels are on display at The Big Toy & Truck Extravaganza, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday, October 4 and entry is free. The event offers the opportunity to hop aboard and honk the horn of trucks and other vehicles.

The event is at Snyder Park, 3299 SW Fourth Avenue, Fort Lauderdale 33315. Parking is free.

Free tickets for play by Seaside Players 

Seaside Players are presenting “Artifice” weekends October 3-12 with performances at 7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays with tickets on Eventbrite.

The venue is Jarvis Hall, 4505 N. Ocean Drive, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea.

Fall Festival in Deerfield Beach

The Fall Festival 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, October 11, at Pioneer Park, 217 NE Fifth Avenue, Deerfield Beach.  The free event includes a pumpkin patch, live entertainment featuring Shane Duncan Band, hayrides, biergarten, vendors, slide, and other things to do.

Oktoberfest in Dania Beach

Oktoberfest Beerfest is 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Saturday, October 11, at Dania Beach City Hall, 100 W. Dania Beach Boulevard. It  is pet-friendly, and free parking is available. The event includes pumpkin patch, live entertainment, and a kids zone. Entry is free. Beer tasting tickets are sold online.

Live entertainment in Pompano Beach, $10 

6  p.m. – 9 p.m. October 12 Soulful Sundays in Pompano Beach, tickets are $10 and need to be purchased online.

Plantation Fall Festival, $5

The Plantation Fall Festival includes games, inflatables, and Halloween festivities. The event is is 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday, October 18, with a $5 entry fee. Parking is free. For kids younger than 2, entry is free.

The venue is Volunteer Park, 12050 W. Sunrise Boulevard, Plantation 33323.

Fall Festival in Deerfield

Entry is free for the Fall Festival in Deerfield Beach 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Saturday, October 11, at Pioneer Park, 217 NE Fifth Avenue. The event includes 

  • Shane Duncan band
  • kids zone
  • free pumpkins while available 
  • hayrides
  • inflatable maze 
  • food vendors 

Riverwalk Fall Festival 

Pumpkin painting, games and pumpkin bowling are featured at the Riverwalk Fall Festival 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. October 18 at Esplanade Park, 400 SW Second Street, Fort Lauderdale 33312. Entry is free. Fees apply for some of the activities. 

Las Olas Art Fair

Las Olas Art Fair is Saturday and Sunday, October 18-19 on Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale.

Entry is free. Parking is usually about $3 an hour.

Diwali Festival

Entry is free for the Diwali festival 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Saturday October 18 at Las Olas Oceanside Park, or LOOP, 3000 E. Las Olas Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale 33316.  The event includes vendors, dance performances and other live entertainment, and food for purchase. Diwali is a Festival of Lights in India and other parts of the world. Parking fees at Fort Lauderdale beach are usually $4 an hour.

Pompano Caribbean Fest 

The festival is 5 p.m. – 10 p.m. Saturday, October 18 with entertainment, vendors and food representing the vibe of the Islands. 

Entertainment includes Rupee and T-Vice. 

The venue is Pompano Community Park, 1801 NE 6th Street, Pompano Beach.

Boo Bash in Pompano 

Boo Bash  is 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday, October 25, with free entry, at Community Park, 1801 NE Sixth Street, Pompano Beach. The event includes free pumpkin while supplies last,  DJ, rides and hayrides, vendors and a costume contest.

Hollyweird

The Halloween event for adults  in Hollywood draws lots of  people, including participants in elaborate outfits vying for prizes totaling about $10,000.

Hollyweird takes place on Hollywood Boulevard at 19th and 20th Avenues in downtown Hollywood. This year's event is 9 p.m. Saturday, October 25, until 2 a.m., and entry is free. 

Wicked Manors in Wilton Manors, $14 – $18 

The popular street festival for Halloween  is 6 p.m. – 11 p.m.  October 31, on Wilton Drive. Tickets are $14.52 online.  At the event, tickets are about $18. Parking is usually $20.

For youngsters and families, Trick-or-Treating is offered 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. on Wilton Drive at participating vendors, and entry is free for that portion. 

Costume contests are featured for grownups. After 8 p.m. the vibe is for ages 21 and older.
