Festivals & events in October in Broward

Oktoberfest, Halloween hooplas and Hispanic Heritage events  are among the array of delightful things to do in October in Broward, including plenty that are free or relatively inexpensive. Pumpkin patches, fall festivals, and farmers markets are in abundance.

Here are the top free and cheap events in Broward in October 2024, and perhaps an indulgence.

 

Oktoberfest

Fort Lauderdale Firefighters Oktoberfest is  2 p.m. – 6 p.m. Saturday, October 26, which is $30 for unlimited beer tastings and German food while supplies last. The venue is a Firefighters Association building at 309 SW 26th St., Fort Lauderdale 33315.

Truck Extravaganza for kids

Lots of interesting vehicles on wheels are on display at The Big Toy & Truck Extravaganza, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday, October 5 and entry is free. The event offers the opportunity to hop aboard and honk the horn of trucks and other vehicles.

The event is at Snyder Park, 3299 SW Fourth Avenue, Fort Lauderdale 33315. Parking is free.

Oktoberfest in Oakland Park

Oktoberfest including the  Dachshund Dash  is October 4-6 at Pastorius Park, 4000 N. Dixie Highway, Oakland Park 33334.  Entertainment, games and German-style foods and drinks are featured. The entry fee is $5 for people 13 and older.  Kids 12 and younger with adults do not pay.

Kids Music Day at LOOP park in Fort Lauderdale

Kids Music Day at Las Olas Oceanside Park is 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, October 6, featuring Miss Tracy Sing-Along and a student vocal ensemble performing favorites from Broadway and movies.

Las Olas Oceanside Park is at 3000 E. Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale 33316. Parking is usually $4 an hour.

Hispanic Heritage Festival in Pembroke Pines

Hispanic Heritage Festival is 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, October 6, in Pembroke Pines.

Entry is free. The event includes activities, entertainment by Lisset Morales and the High School Jazz Band and food trucks with Hispanic fare.

The venue is City Center, 601 City Center Way, Pembroke Pines 33025

Oktoberfest in Dania Beach

Oktoberfest Beerfest is 6 p.m.to 9 p.m. Saturday, October 12, at Dania Beach City Hall, 100 W. Dania Beach Boulevard. It  is pet-friendly, and free parking is available. The event includes pumpkin patch, live entertainment, and a kids zone. Entry is free. Beer tasting tickets are sold online.

Fall Festival in Deerfield Beach

The Fall Festival 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, October 12, at Pioneer Park, 217 NE Fifth Avenue, Deerfield Beach.  The free event includes a pumpkin patch, live entertainment featuring Shane Duncan Band, hayrides, biergarten, vendors, slide, and other things to do.

Plantation Fall Festival

The Plantation Fall Festival includes games, inflatables, and Halloween festivities. The event is is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, October 19, with a $5 entry fee. Parking is free. For kids younger than 2, entry is free.

The venue is Volunteer Park, 12050 W. Sunrise Boulevard, Plantation 33323.

Las Olas Art Fair

Las Olas Art Fair is Saturday and Sunday, October 19-20, on Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale.

Entry is free. Parking is usually about $3 an hour.

Hollyweird

The Halloween event for adults  in Hollywood draws lots of  people, including participants in elaborate outfits entering events that offer prizes totaling about $10,000.

Hollyweird takes place on Hollywood Boulevard at 19th and 20th Avenues in downtown Hollywood. This year's event is 9 p.m. Saturday, October 26, until 2 a.m., and entry is free.

Diwali Festival

Entry is free for the Diwali festival 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday October 26 at Las Olas Oceanside Park, or LOOP, 3000 E. Las Olas Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale 33316.  The event includes vendors, dance performances and other live entertainment, and food for purchase. Diwali is a Festival of Lights in India and other parts of the world. Parking fees at Fort Lauderdale beach are usually $4 an hour.

Wicked Manors in Wilton Manors

The popular street festival for Halloween  is 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Thursday, October 31, on Wilton Drive. Tickets are $10 online.  At the event, tickets are $13. Parking is $20.

For youngsters and families, Trick-or-Treating is offered 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wilton Drive at participating vendors,

Costume contests are featured for grownups.
