CityPlace Doral is hosting another monthlong celebration of Dias de Los Muertos in 2025 and the public is invited to take part in the festivities.
Ancestral celebrations
While this seasonal celebration originated in Mexico and other pre-Columbian societies, Day of the Dead cultural traditions from Mesoamerica have been popularized here at home, as well. Festivities connected to the holiday include honoring the deceased with food, dance, music, crafts, prayers, and Aztec marigold flowers to mark the remembrance of friends and family members who have died.
Starting Monday, Oct. 20, CityPlace Doral will be decorated with colorful Dia de Los Muertos-themed installation. The Latin American tradition will culminate with a free community event on Nov. 1.
The main Day of the Dead event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 6 to 9 p.m., where children and families can enjoy face painting, food sampling from local restaurants and a processional with performances by folkloric dancers, stilt walkers, mariachis, costumed characters, night market and more.
CityPlace Doral has been decorated with colorful Dia de Los Muertos-themed decorations. At the main entrance, guests will be welcomed by a wooden calavera (sugar skull) and marigolds overhead. Sugar skulls will be displayed throughout, plus the Fountain Plaza will have an ornamental altar display of a trio catrines (male skeleton figures), all hand-crafted by artistic elves.
Note: Furry friends are encouraged to meet up at CityPlace Doral’s City Bark dog park. Decorated with fun photo moments, a doghouse, dog bone and a fire hydrant, City Bark is a paws-itively good time. There are also four pet waste stations located conveniently throughout the property.
Guests and pets are encouraged to dress in Day of the Dead theme.

The celebration takes place at Fountain Plaza at CityPlace Doral, 8300 NW 36th St., Doral.
