The aim is to “Nurture What's Wild” at Busch Wildlife Sanctuary in Jupiter.

Busch Wildlife Sanctuary

  • Hours: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily; closed on major holidays.
  • Where: Busch Wildlife Sanctuary, 17855 Rocky Pines Road, Jupiter
  • Admission is by donation, with no minimum; whatever the person or family is able to donate. All educational programs are free and everyone is welcome to attend.

Donations make it possible to continue to care for all of the animals and creatures at the sanctuary. You can donate by card or cash.

History

In 1983, sanctuary was established for the purpose of nurturing sick, injured, and orphaned wild animals while fostering wildlife and habitat conservation.

Mission

  • Rescue sick, injured, or orphaned native Florida wildlife.
  • Rehab and feed orphaned wildlife, perform examinations, administer medication.
  • Release animals back into the wild after they are deemed to be healthy.
  • Educate the public about native plant and animal species, conservation efforts to protect and preserve Florida’s wildlife, natural resources, and endangered species.

The sanctuary is open 7 days a week, rain or shine. Holiday closures: New Year’s Day, Easter, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.

Current patients usually number about 75 at any given time. Annually, more than 5,000 animals benefit from the care they receive at the sanctuary.

What visitors may get to see:

  • native Florida animals up close and learn about their habitats
  • water birds, hawks, cranes and owls
  • deer, bears, turkeys and big cats
  • foxes, opossums and other critters
  • river otters, reptiles, snakes and other swamp things
