Free art and jazz night at The ARC in Opa-locka
In the heart of Opa-locka sits The ARC (Arts & Recreation Center, a community center and cultural facility with large indoor gallery spaces and an outdoor courtyard, a neighborhood gathering place.
On Friday, Sept. 18 from 7-10 p.m. it will be the host site for The Art of Purvis Young and Jazz at the Garden of Humanity, utilizing all the spaces at the ARC complex. The event is free but RSVP is required.

Start the night at 7 p.m. in the galleries where the exhibition "Deistic Articulations: The Art of Purvis Young," will be on display showcasing Young's art that depicts black life in Overtown, his lifelong neighborhood.
At 8 p.m., move to the Garden of Humanity in the courtyard, for a performance by Miami's own The Jazz Shephards whose music blends jazz/funk and soul.
