Celebrate Earth Day with animals at Daggerwing Nature Center, Boca Raton, April 25

Communing with nature has never been more fun and the Daggerwing Nature Center has so many opportunities for kids and their families to take advantage of the great outdoors.

Admission is free; access to trails and boardwalk are free; most programs have fees usually from $5 to $10.

Weekly:

ANIMAL FEEDINGS & TALKS
Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, 2:45 p.m.; Saturdays, 1 p.m.
All ages, FREE (Reservations not required)
During feeding time, listen to a short talk about one of Daggerwing’s resident animals.

Celebrate Earth Day at Daggerwing Nature Center! Bring the family to learn easy ways to help the planet while having fun. This special event will feature live animal encounters, interactive activities, butterfly plant sale, ladybug release, crafts and much more! *Some activities involve a minimal cash donation to Friends of Daggerwing Nature Center

Daggerwing features a 3,000-square-foot exhibit hall with live animals, butterfly garden, art gallery and an elevated boardwalk with two trails.

Stop along your walk at the observation tower and catch a glimpse of a variety of winged creatures, such as ospreys, woodpeckers and butterflies (including the Ruddy Daggerwing butterfly, their namesake). You might even see turtles and alligators.

Daggerwing is located within Aaronson South County Regional Park, 11435 Park Access Road in west Boca Raton. For more information call, 561-629-8760.

Hours:

  • Wednesday through Friday from 1 to 4:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Closed to the public Sunday-Tuesday, programs by reservation only.

The Boardwalk is open daily, from sunrise to sunset. Public restrooms are accessible when nature center staff is on site.
