Registrations to open at Gumbo Limbo in spring of 2025:
- Tuesday, May 13: Hatchling Release registration opens for residents only (until sold out).
- Tuesday, May 20: Hatchling Release registration opens for non-residents (until sold out).
Note: The above dates are when you can begin to buy tickets. See below for summer event times and dates.
Hatchling releases at Gumbo Limbo Nature Center
Hatchling releases welcome all ages. ($10 for Gumbo Limbo Coastal Stewards and residents; $15 for other guests).
Online reservations are required. No walk-ins; must reserve space in advance and spots sell out quickly.

Each hour-long program begins with a presentation in the classroom where participants learn about the life cycles, behaviors, and threats to the sea turtles that nest in South Florida. Then we drive to the beach, where staff place the hatchlings on the wet sand by the water, and we watch as the tiny turtles make their way down to the waves and head off into the surf.
2025 Dates & Times for Hatchling Releases
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday Evenings
- July 14 – August 7, from 8 to 9:30 p.m.
- Aug. 11-Aug. 28, from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
