Free and cheap Hanukkah events in South Florida 2024

Hanukkah fairs and other events enhance the holiday with fun and yummy food in South Florida.

Hanukkah celebrates the victory of the Maccabees, a Jewish army, over the Syrian-Greek army, which enabled them to reclaim and rededicate the Holy Temple in Jerusalem. But, there was only enough oil to keep the candles lighted for one day. By a miracle, the light lasted for eight days, which is why Hanukkah is celebrated for eight days.

The menorah, with eight candles plus one for lighting, is a major symbol of Hanukkah, and South Florida cities and organizations plan menorah-lighting celebrations and other festivities to celebrate Hanukkah.

In 2024, Hanukkah will be observed from sundown on Wednesday, Dec. 25, through Thursday evening, Jan. 2, 2025.
