For folks who want to relish the outdoors on Earth Day, parks in South Florida are ideal.
For Earth Day in 2024, several Broward regional parks that usually require an entry fee on weekends and holidays are waving the fees Sunday April 21, which represents a savings of $3 per vehicle for up to eight people.
Parks waiving fees include these and others
- Quiet Waters Park is at 401 S. Powerline Road, Deerfield Beach 33442
- Vista View Park in Davie 954-357-8898, is at 4001 S.W. 142nd Ave., Davie 33330
- T.Y./Topeekeegee Yugnee Park, 954-357-8811, 3300 N. Park Road., Hollywood 33021
Some Broward parks and natural areas always offer free entry.
For folks who want to enhance their park excursion, participating Broward libraries loan bird-watching backpacks, which include binoculars. For borrowing backpacks, you'll need a library number, which is free for eligible residents. Phone your favorite library and inquire if backpacks are available.
