Black History Month at libraries has free movies, music & more

Libraries across the county, both regional and city branches will be celebrating with plenty of free events to honor and learn about Black culture, music, art, food, films, literature and scientific endeavors. 

Planned activities include crafts, movies, stories, music and more. Some are specific to certain age groups, others are not. Some require preregistration, some don't. Here's a sample list of some programs at various public libraries throughout Palm Beach County for February, 2025.

Palm Beach Co. Library System

Mandel Public Library of West Palm Beach

Mandel Public Library, West Palm Beach

  • When: Saturday, Feb. 17, from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • What: Movie double feature, “Black Panther” and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
  • Where: 411 Clematis St., West Palm Beach, FL 33401, (at TeenSource, 2nd Floor)

For teens and tweens in grades 6-12. Those who stick around afterward can receive a free book, Black Panther: Spellbound, while supplies last. Snacks will be available.

Royal Palm Beach Branch

Rated PG-13. Popcorn provided. 
Note: Registration opens on Feb. 5; limited seating.

Lantana Road Branch

Features songs by prolific black artists, including genres such as jazz, R&B, soul, rock, pop, along with spirituals and songs central to the Civil Rights movement in America.

Belle Glade Branch

Join jazz vocalist Yvette Norwood-Tiger, founder of the Palm Beach International Jazz Festival, and enjoy her vocal style that brings to life the essence of Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday.

Canyon Branch

Vocalist Morgan Joyce Hart’s musical journey features songs by prolific Black artists, including genres such as jazz, R&B, soul, rock, pop, along with spirituals and songs central to the Civil Rights movement in America.

Jupiter Branch

Vocalist Morgan Joyce Hart’s musical journey features songs by prolific Black artists, including genres such as jazz, R&B, soul, rock, pop, along with spirituals and songs central to the Civil Rights movement in America.

Gardens Branch
