Best free and cheap things to do in Miami-Dade in March

March is the arrival of Spring and also a month packed with events around Miami-Dade and they're not all about St. Patrick's Day, there's also the Miami-Dade County Youth Fair and Calle Ocho Music Festival.

Here's a list of fun things to do in March around Miami:

St. Patrick's Day Festivals

Shamrocks, green beer, Irish music and food, U2 tribute bands, generally all things Irish are being celebrated the weekend of Saturday, March 16 and Sunday, March 17. The big street party at John Martin's in Coral Gables is back, happening both days. You can also join in festivities at Pier 5 at Bayside Marketplace, the huge St. Pat's Wynwood at Wynwood Marketplace presented by SWARM and of course, all kinds of St. Patrick's themed specials at Duffy's Sports Grill. Calle Ocho Music Festival

One of the longest running events in Miami and billed as the biggest street festival in the country, the Calle Ocho Music Festival takes over SW Eighth Street in Little Havana on Sunday, March 10.

The annual event takes place along Miami's famous Eighth Street in Little Havana, from Southwest 12th to 27th avenues, with more than 300 food vendors, exhibits, activities and family friendly activities expected. It's estimated that more than 1.5 million people typically partake in the Calle Ocho celebration every year, with Latin American foods and popular musical acts on 10 stages, representing all Latin styles. Miami-Dade County Youth Fair

Be there, the Fair! You've heard the jingle on television and radio, it's how to know that the Miami-Dade County Youth Fair is just weeks away and it actually is. Kicking off March 14 and running for three weeks through April 7, the fair takes over the Tamiami Park grounds with rides galore.

There's always new entertainment added to the ever-growing list of yearly highlights like the pig races, ice skating show and loads of musical entertainment. Miami Marlins

The boys of summer return in March and Miami's own fish the Miami Marlins kick off the home season on Thursday, March 28 with an afternoon game vs. the Pittsburgh Pirates. Game's at 4:10 p.m. so maybe a half day's in order to catch all the opening day fun. Tickets are as little as $10

And that's just one of the many deals the Miami Marlins offer all season. There are other single game ticket offers, $1 Kids Nights on Monday, Friday night specials, student passes and so much more.
