Voices from Florida: Profiles in Black Miami, North Dade Library

Are you interested in history and discovering fascinating facts? Have you ever wondered about who was responsible for helping to shape the city's culture or economy? Well, thanks to a team of producers and researchers who explore and document those things, now you can get those answers.

The Voices from Florida Series project uses oral histories, archival research, and multimedia storytelling in documentaries to highlight the experiences and contributions of Black settlers who came to Miami in the 19th and 20th centuries. 

Here is the latest installment:

Saturday, July 22, from 4 to 5 p.m. features: “Documenting Miami's Incorporators,” at North Dade Regional Library, 2455 NW 183rd St., Miami Gardens. All ages welcome; no charge to attend.

The public is invited to learn the history of Miami with the researchers and producers of the documentary series “Profiles in Black Miami,” as they delve into the lives of the men who signed the charter to incorporate the City of Miami in July 1896.
