For a twist on a day at the ocean in South Florida, pitch in picking up litter on the shoreline and see rescued sea turtles eating and swimming in a saltwater pool.
Turtle tours, ocean educational displays and food trucks are included in the festivities intended for the whole family.
The event is 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. September 17, 2022, and it’s free. Local vendors and local ocean protection organizations are participating with displays and items for sale.
Fees apply for parking meters.
The event includes
- sea turtle feedings 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Marine Environmental Education Center (MEEC), 4414 N. Surf Road, Hollywood 33019. MEEC is open to the public other days as well. The female turtles are at the facility and non-releasable due to injuries from watercraft.
- vendors & food trucks
- beach cleanup 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Weekend and holiday rates for beach parking is $4 an hour and $3 an hour Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
