Top Things To Do in December in Broward & Plenty are Free

Parks, plazas and other public places in Broward glisten in December with festive displays, vendor fairs and festivals. A delightful variety of live performances, parades and other things to do are free or relatively inexpensive for kids, teens and adults.

Holiday Lights & Displays 

Some popular holiday attractions are free.

  • Symphony in Lights at Gulfstream Park Village in Hallandale Beach is free.  The light show animated to favorite holiday tunes is on the hour 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. December 6 to December 31, 901 S. Federal Highway, Hallandale Beach 33009. Parking is free. 
  • Snow flurries and snowmen events at Dania Pointe plaza in Dania Beach on select days offer photo ops with a winter vibe. Parking is free. Dania Pointe is at 150 Sunset Drive, Dania Beach 33004. 
  • Plantation Historical Museum offers an indoor display of theme decorated trees and entry is free. The Winter Wonderland display with a train village exhibit is open 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays, with a few exceptions. The venue is at 511 N. Fig Tree Lane, Plantation 33317. Entry and parking are free. Donations are accepted. 
  • Christmas on Las Olas is a Holiday festival December 2 on Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale features entertainment, ice skating, vendors, sledding and photo ops with Santa. Entry is free, with fees for some attractions.    The event is from Southeast 6th Avenue to Southeast 11th Avenue on Las Olas Boulevard. Fees for parking apply. Parking is usually $3 an hour and occasionally a $20 flat rate. 

Christmas at the Oasis 

The attraction with holiday displays is 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. December 1 to December 25 in Pembroke Pines.

  • Drive-through is December 1 to December 4, December 8 to December 11, December 15 to December 18, December 24, December 25 
  • Walk-up event with extra features is December 5, December 6, December 7, December 12, December 13, December 19 – December 23 

Entry is free with donations accepted. Fees for train rides and hay rides are about $3. Extra events include 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. December 13 and December 20 with entertainment by Everglades High School Choir.

Sunrise Winter Wonderland 

Sunrise light up and Winter Wonderland is 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, December 6, at the Sunrise Amphitheater and entry is free.  A highlight at 8:40 p.m. is a drone show. The venue is The Sunrise Amphitheater, 10770 W. Oakland Park Boulevard.  Parking is free. 

Pompano Boat Parade 

The Pompano Beach boat parade is 7 p.m. Friday, December 12, on the Intracoastal Waterway. The event usually features  more than 50 boats decorated with holiday lights, music and dancing from Lake Santa Barbara north to Sullivan Park, 1633 Riverview Road, Pompano Beach.

Watch areas include bleachers at Alsdorf Park, 2974 NE 14th Street. Entry is free while space is available. Parking fees are usually about $1.80 – $2.50 per hour. 

For diners with restaurant reservations, Miraggio Italian Grill, 954-366-6279, 3100 E. Atlantic Boulevard southeast of the Atlantic Boulevard Bridge is a watch area.

South Florida Symphony Orchestra in Weston 

South Florida Symphony Orchestra performs favorite holiday tunes 5 p.m. Saturday, December 13, at the Amphitheater, 1900 Bell Tower Lane, Weston 33326. Entry and parking are free. 

Winterfest Boat Parade in Fort Lauderdale 

Winterfest Boat Parade on the Intracoastal Waterway is 6 p.m. Saturday, December 13 on the New River in downtown Fort Lauderdale, from 335 SE 6th Avenue, east to the Intracoastal Waterway, north to Lake Santa Barbara in Pompano Beach. A premium watch area with extra entertainment is offered for a fee. Information about other watch areas is on the Winterfest website

Downtown Hollywood ArtWalk

Art tours, live entertainment and vendors are featured at the Downtown Hollywood ArtWalk  6 p.m. – 10 p.m. Saturday, December 20, and entry is free. 

Kwanzaa event at Provident Park in Fort Lauderdale 

Entertainment and festivities are featured at Kwanzaa Ujamaa  2 p.m. – 5 p.m. December 29 and entry is free. The venue is Provident Park, 1412 NW 6th Street, Fort Lauderdale 33311.
