Art Deco Hotels

When you visit Miami Beach and especially the South Beach area, chances are you'll want to stay in one of the pretty pastel hued historically designated Art Deco hotels. While some of these have been transformed into super deluxe pricey designer properties, there are still many that give you a chance to enjoy the beautiful period architecture and not shell out a fortune.

Just keep a couple of things in mind when booking your Art deco hotel. Rooms can often be small, since this was typical of the architecture at the time. Also note that although we list the lowest prices we found when researching these properties, rates are always subject to change, based on availability and whether it is high or low season. Many hotels charge resort fees and additional charges that may be mandated by city or the state, make sure to check ahead of time so as not be surprised later.

Here is our list of South Beach Art Deco hotels that won't break the bank:

Albion South Beach HotelAlbion Hotel South Beach

This 1939 Maritime-inspired Art Deco hotel is in a very central location at the southern stretch of Lincoln Road, where outdoor dining and lots of shopping are plentiful. It is also just one and a half block from the beach and the lovely beach promenade. Should you want to take advantage of public transportation to move around town, many of the lines, including the Airport Flyer ($2.35 one way) stop across the street. This is a great choice if you like being in the thick of things. The hotel has a pool and restaurant. Many rooms at this hotel come with a nice view, an extra bonus. Rates can be as low as $99 a night for “petite”rooms or $129 for a Deluxe room. Beacon Hotel South Beach

Smack dab in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Ocean Drive, this triple AAA Diamond, 1937 Deco gem offers lots of specials during any kind of event you could think of: Miami Heat games, Art Basel, pre- and post-cruise packages, advance bookings and more. Rates for specials hover around the $200 per night mark but can dip lower depending on the season. Rooms are decorated in bright colors with tiled floors, and some offer ocean views. Sleek, chic and calming could be a good way of describing this SoFi (South of Fifth) Boutique hotel. Originally built in 1937, the hotel has preserved the original Art Deco features on the outside while redecorating in a stylish and clean modern vein on the inside. All 24 rooms at this hotel include maple wood furnishings, mini bar, entertainment systems, super comfortable beds and oversize bathrooms with showers that convert into steam rooms. The hotel is in a quiet area of Washington Avenue, yet is within walking distance to restaurants and the beach. We found rates from $139 per night.

The hotel features original terrazzo floors, iron railings and original architectural details. Rooms are decorated in crisp white and green nature motifs, with tile floors and whimsical chandeliers. We found rates starting at $96/night for a standard room including Continental breakfast.
