Memorial Day events and deals in Broward

Memorial Day brings not only a long weekend, but celebrations and ceremonies to honor Americans who lost their lives while serving in the armed forces.

Memorial Day events in Broward 2024

Coconut Creek

The City of Coconut Creek will hold a Memorial Day Ceremony at 9 a.m. Monday, May 27, at Veterans Park, 3550 Lyons Road. If the weather is bad, the ceremony will move inside to the Recreation complex, 4455 Sol Press Blvd.

Coral Springs

The City of Coral Springs, with the city's Veterans Coalition, will host a Memorial Day ceremony at 9 a.m. Monday, May 27, at Veterans Park, 8601 Royal Palm Blvd., Coral Springs 33065. Keynote speaker will be Sandi Winters, a U.S. Army veteran. If the weather is bad, the ceremony will be at the Coral Springs Gymnasium, 2501 Coral Springs Dr.

Davie

The Boy Scouts of America and Town of Davie are hosting a Memorial Day Parade and Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 27, with the parade starting at 10:30 a.m. from  Davie Fire Administration building, 6901 Orange Drive. The parade will go east to Southwest 65th Way and then north to Bergeron Rodeo Grounds, 4271 Davie Road.  The program will start at 11 a.m. and include speakers.

Deerfield Beach

The City of Deerfield Beach and the American Legion will sponsor a Memorial Day Ceremony at 9 a.m. Monday, May 27, at the Braithwaite Center for Active Aging, 325 NW Second Ave.

Fort Lauderdale

The City of Fort Lauderdale will honor fallen veterans with a Memorial Day Ceremony at 9 a.m. Monday, May 27, at the Lauderdale Memorial Park Cemetery, 2001 SW Fourth Ave., Fort Lauderdale 33315. The event will include speakers, a recognition of veterans, dove release, the police pipe and drum corps and music by the Fort Lauderdale Symphonic winds, featuring James Perkowski.

The William C. Morris American Legion Post 36 will sponsor a Memorial Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday, May 27, at the Sandy Nininger statue on the Fort Lauderdale Riverwalk. Complimentary parking will be available at the Broward Center garage, 101 SW Fifth Ave.

Hollywood

7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, May 25,  Hollywood's Salute to the Fallen includes food trucks, live music by Viva and a DJ. The event is at Boulevard Heights Amphitheater, 6770 Garfield Street. Bring chair or blanket. No single use plastics. Parking is free.

Lauderhill

The Northwest Lauderhill Neighbors Assoc. and Commission S. Ray martin are holding a Memorial Day Service at 8:30 a.m. Monday, May 27, at Veterans Park in Lauderhill, 7600 NW 50th St. Families who would like to mention the name of a loved one during the service are asked to arrive by 8:10 a.m.

Margate

The City of Margate Memorial Day Ceremony will be at 9 a.m. Monday, May 27, at Veterans Memorial Park, 7044 NW First St.

Miramar

The city of Miramar will honor veterans with a Memorial Day Ceremony from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, May 27, at Veterans Memorial Park, 6405 Arbor Dr. 

Oakland Park

The City of Oakland Park and the American Legion will sponsor a Memorial Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. Monday, May 27, at the American Legion Post 222, 4250 NE Fifth Ave. 

Parkland

The City of Parkland will hold a Memorial Day Ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Monday, May 27, followed by a patriotic concert. Food trucks will be on site. The event is at Pine Trails Park Amphitheatre, 10561 Trails End, Parkland, FL 33076.

Pembroke Pines

Speakers are featured at a program in Pembroke Pines, 9 a.m. May 27 at Fletcher Park, 7900 Johnson St.

Plantation

A  program is 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 27 at Veterans Park, 1776 Lauderdale West Drive, Plantation 33322.

Pompano Beach

The city of Pompano Beach will sponsor a Memorial Day Parade, starting at 10 a.m. Monday, May 27, at McNab Park, 2250 E. Atlantic Blvd. The parade will proceed to the City of Pompano Beach Cemetery, 400 SW 23rd Ave., where there will be a ceremony honoring military veterans.

Sunrise

The Sunrise Memorial Day  event at 9 a.m. on Monday, May 27, with bag pipes and speakers.  The venue is Sunrise Civic Center Theater, 10610 West Oakland Park Boulevard.

Tamarac

The event 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 27, includes the National Anthem and speakers, including Vietnam Veteran Levoyd Williams. The event is at Veterans Park, 7825 Southgate Blvd.
