Nova Singers, Golden Jubilee Holiday Concert, 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Hallandale Beach; 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Boca Raton; 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, at the United Church of Christ Fort Lauderdale; and 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at St. Gregory Catholic Church in Plantation. Florida Singing Sons, 50th annual holiday concert, 7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at First Presbyterian Church, 401 SE 15th Ave., Fort Lauderdale. Tickets are $20 general admission, $15 for seniors 65 and older, $10 for students and $50 for VIP. Details and tickets.

South Florida Symphony Orchestra’s Handel’s Messiah and Holiday Pops, 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, at The Parker, 707 NE Seventh St., Fort Lauderdale; and 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7, at Barry University's Shepard & Ruth K. Teresa Mears is a publisher, writer and editor who was raised to be frugal. She became a website entrepreneur after 30 years as an editor at newspapers ranging in size from the Portland (Tenn.) Leader to The Los Angeles Times and The Miami Herald, where she worked most recently. She moved to Florida in 1980 because it was the only place she could get a job during that recession and has lived in South Florida since 1985, in Miami, Hollywood, Tamarac, Wilton Manors and Fort Pierce.
