Hispanic Heritage events in Palm Beach County for 2023 are generally being celebrated from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15. These events are free unless otherwise noted; additionally, many require pre-registration because space may be limited.
Public libraries offer a variety of Hispanic Heritage events, from story-time, to movies, crafts and more. Here is a sampling from local libraries in Palm Beach County. Some events are for young children, other programs may be for teens and adults.

Friday, Sept. 15: Afro-Latinx Movie Matinee
1:30-4 p.m.
Belle Glade Branch
Enjoy some Latin food as we kick-off Hispanic Heritage Month with the film City of God (2002). Based on the 1997 semi-autobiographical novel by Paulo Lins. Shown with permission. Rated-R.
Friday, Sept. 15: Mexican Huichol Yarn Painting
2-3:30 p.m.
Lantana Road Branch
Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by learning about the purpose and history of Huichol yarn painting and create your own replica of the traditional Mexican folk art. Registration opens Sept. 1.
Saturday, Sept. 16: ¡Marinera Peruana! Peruvian Dance Performance
3-4 p.m., Auditorium, 3rd floor.

Wednesday, Sept. 20: “Spare Parts” movie matinee

In Celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. Watch this film based on true story of a group of students from a mainly Latino high school, who won first place at an M.I.T. robot contest. Snacks provided.

Thursday, Sept. 21: Amate Painting
3-4 p.m.
Main Library, West Palm Beach
Learn how to create an amate painting, a traditional Mexican folk art, decorated with beautiful scenes of everyday life. Registration open on Sept. 7.
Thursday, Sept. 21: Hispanic Heritage: Make an Alebrije

Learn about these colorful creatures from Mexico and then make one of your own! Ages 6-12. Registration opens Sept. 7.
Saturday, Sept. 23: Teen Movie Club for Hispanic Heritage Month

For families with children 5 and up. Get your hips moving and get ready to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by dancing. Join Adelicia from Rhythms Dance Studios to learn the basics of Reggaetón. This popular dance style comes from Puerto Rico, and the music is a blend of Spanish Reggae, Bomba, Salsa, and Spanish Hip-Hop coming from various places in Latin American countries.
