Free or discount museum entry with SNAP card

Museums are a great place to take kids for a variety of reasons. They not only provide educational opportunities, but they also spark creativity, and promote family bonding. Plus, they can help give children a healthy perspective of where they fit in, between the past and the future.

And thanks to the Museums for All program, families who are enrolled in SNAP benefits can get access to the wealth of knowledge that museums have to offer through this program. Each SNAP EBT card allows up to four people to get the Museums for All admission rate, which is $3 or less in 2024.

What you need to know: More than 1,000 museums across the United States allows families access, simply by presenting their SNAP EBT card and a photo ID.

Here are some tips for taking kids to museums:

  • Choose a museum that is appropriate for your child's age and interests.
  • Plan your visit ahead of time and check the museum's website for information about exhibits, hours, and verify participation and admission prices.
  • Dress your child in comfortable clothes that they can move around in easily.
  • Take a water bottle and snacks to keep your child hydrated and energized.
  • Be prepared to answer your child's questions.
  • Take your time and explore the exhibits at your own pace.
  • Make sure to have fun!
