Free movies at park in North Miami Beach

13iami Light Project and O Cinema are joining forces to keep kids entertained this summer with a fun Summer Cinema Series from June through August. 

Each month, they'll present one feature film and one cinematic VR experience. 

Here's the schedule:

Saturday, June 17

1 p.m.
Screening of Paper Birds Part I and II
Cinematic VR Experience

Paper Birds is an interactive story about a young musician in search of true inspiration. This VR film offers unique moments of interactivity with hand tracking, inviting you to conduct music, unlock portals, light up the invisible world, and more. Toto journeys into the invisible world to rescue his sister Azul, discovering about himself and his family as he travels further. Starring Ed Norton, Joss Stone, and Archie Yates.

This FREE VR experience is available from 1pm to 4pm on a first come first serve basis and is recommended for ages 7 and up. No RSVP required.

Summer Cinema Series: Puss in Boots - The Last Wish

4 p.m. Puss in Boots: The Last Wish

When Puss in Boots discovers that his passion for adventure has taken its toll and he has burned through eight of his nine lives, he launches an epic journey to restore them by finding the mythical Last Wish. RSVP required.

Saturday, July 15

1 p.m. Glimpse – Cinematic VR Experience

Glimpse is a highly emotive, visual feast set in the imaginative mind of a heartbroken panda named Herbie, who has recently broken up with his girlfriend Rice. Herbie is an illustrator and through his art we delve back through the memories of his relationship from the heart-breaking end to the beautiful beginning.

This FREE VR experience is available from 1pm to 4pm on a first come first serve basis and is recommended for ages 7 and up. No RSVP required.

4 p.m. A Goofy Movie 

When Max makes a preposterous promise to a girl, he has a crush on, his chances to fulfilling it seem hopeless when he is dragged onto a cross-country trip with his embarrassing father, Goofy. RSVP here.

Summer Cinema Series: Soul

6 p.m. Soul

After landing the gig of a lifetime, a New York jazz pianist suddenly finds himself trapped in a strange land between Earth and the afterlife. Join us for this Oscar-nominated film that imagines a place where souls are matched with unique passions. RSVP here.

Saturday, Aug. 12

1 p.m. Spheres – Cinematic VR Experience

Uncover the hidden songs of the cosmos through this powerful, immersive spectacle that fuses art with science. Using hand tracking and light interactivity, join with the universe and bring life to the veiled symphony of sound and light. Directed by Eliza McNitt, produced by Darren Aronofsky & Ari Handel, and narrated by Millie Bobby Brown, Jessica Chastain, and Patti Smith.

This FREE VR experience is available from 1pm to 4pm on a first come first serve basis and is recommended for age 7 and up. No RSVP required.

4 p.m. Vivo

A music-loving kinkajou embarks on the journey of a lifetime to fulfill his destiny and deliver a love song for an old friend. Sony Pictures Animation’s first-ever musical adventure, Vivo features all-new original songs written and performed by Lin-Manuel Miranda, with Gloria Estefan, Zoe Saldana, Juan de Marcos and more.
