Free "Homegrown" staged readings presented by CityTheatre
The folks at Citytheatre.com are once again hosting "Homegrown," staged readings of excerpts from new plays and musicals in development. It's the perfect opportunity to get a first look at plays before they come to the stage.
The next one is on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 8 p.m. at Actors' Playhouse in Coral Gables.
Professional actors will read new work by a trio of Miami playwrights, Alize Medina, Paolo Benedict, and Paul Torres Wong. Prepare to hear about a Latina vampire defending the Everglades, a man who comes home to find his brother buried in a dangerous delusion and experience a musical about a med student coming apart in the ER.
The three plays in development are part of City Theatre's HOMEGROWN playwright development program for South Florida writers. Each readings runs approximately 20 minutes and is followed by a talkback with all three playwrights.
