GableStage Theatre Company has a longstanding reputation in South Florida theater as a group that takes chances by presenting thought-provoking productions, is stepping into new territory with a new Family Theatre Series. They're billing it as a series "for the young and young at heart."
The monthly presentations will happen on Saturdays October 3 and December 12, 2026; January 30, March 27 and May 22, 2027 at noon. Tickets are $5, click here to purchase.
"A Dose of Fun: The Wonder Show!," is a puppet show that kicks off the series on Oct. 3. It tells a story that takes place in the Realm of Wonder, where a shy young chef is sent on a quest to make Dragon Soup before nightfall. Along the way, she meets knights, pirates, mermaids and a not-so-scary dragon, discovering that bravery does not mean being fearless, it means trying anyway.
The performance was written by Florida International University theater alumni Ivan Lopez and features his fellow alumni Elizabeth Chavez, Luis Diaz and Maleeha Naseer as the puppeters. Stick around afterwards when the cast leads kids in attendance in a puppet-making workshop.
