Miami-Dade County Public libraries are a great place to celebrate Black History Month where at various locations, they’ll be hosting festivities honoring the achievements of African-Americans.

Marci Poppins Puppet Show with playful puppets in a music-filled celebration reminding everyone to be proud of their heritage. Feb. 8 at 11 a.m., Country Walk Branch, 15433 SW 137 Ave., Miami
Tap, Scat, Swing and Sing! A Harlem Renaissance Storytime where master storyteller Christal Walker plays the role of Zora Neale Thurston and tells stories about Ella Fitzgerald, Bojangles and Jacob Lawrence. Feb. 15 at 3 p.m., Arcola Lakes Branch, 8240 NW 7 Ave., Miami
Create Your Own Freedom Quilt create an inspirational freedom paper quilt where each printed square represents the journey of an individual who fought their way to freedom on the underground railroad. Feb. 22 at 12:30 p.m., Lemon City Branch, 430 NW 61 St., Miami
West African Dance Workshop learn about the history of West African drum and dance culture in a workshop by the African Watoto Dance Theatre. Feb. 15 at 1 p.m., Allapattah Branch, 1799 NW 35 St., Miami
Film Screening Oscar-nominated film Harriet about abolitionist Harriet Tubman and her dangerous missions to free slaves through the Underground Railroad. Feb. 8 at 2 p.m., West Kendall Regional Branch, 10201 Hammocks Blvd., Miami
