If you're eager to be out and about, Broward offers lots of events in September that are free or relatively inexpensive.

Food trucks. Live music. Fall festivities.  Great for date nights, family activities and solo excursions.

Broward Attractions and Museums Month 

Several Broward attractions offer 2-for-1 deals in September, including Flamingo Gardens and Butterfly World. 

Fun Day event in Miramar 

Free entry for Fun Day with free food and entertainment 7130 Pembroke Road, Miramar 33023.

The event is 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. September 1 and information is online

Water slides in Parkland 

Back to school Splash Bash is 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, September 6, and entry is free.

It's at the Equestrian center, 8350 Ranch Road, Parkland. Parking is free.

Symphony Orchestra in Pembroke Pines 

South Florida Symphony Orchestra performs at 4 p.m. Sunday, September 7, and entry is free. 

The free concert is at the Katz Theatre at the Pembroke Pines Theatre of the Performing Arts, 17195 Sheridan Street, Pembroke Pines.

Hispanic Heritage Festival in Tamarac with Grammy winner

Flamenco, Salsa and Latin jazz are featured at an Hispanic Heritage event 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Friday, September 19, and entry is free. The venue is Tamarac Village Amphitheater, 9090 NW 57th St., Tamarac.

Latin Festival in Oakland Park 

Entry is free for the Latin Festival 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. Friday, September 19, in Oakland Park featuring Gianpaul & Latin Soul Band. 

The event includes food trucks and a kids' zone. The venue is Pastorius Park, 4000 N. Dixie Highway, Oakland Park.

Touch A Truck in Pembroke Pines 

Touch A Truck is 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Saturday, September 20, and it's free.

It's at City Center, 601 City Center Way, Pembroke Pines. Parking is free.

Fall Festival in Davie

Fall Festival in Davie is 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, September 20, and entry is free. Parking and activities are free. The Shane Duncan Band performs. The venue is Bergeron Rodeo, 4201 Rodeo Way, Davie. 

Latin Music Festival in Miramar

The Latin Music Festival festivities  are 7 p.m. – 11 p.m. Saturday, September 20, at the Amphitheater at Miramar Regional Park, 16801 Miramar Parkway, Miramar.  Entry is free. Parking is $10. 

Fall Festival in Fort Lauderdale

Games, entertainment and food trucks are included at the The Fall Festival Friday, September 26, at Stranahan House in Fort Lauderdale.  Entry is $5 for adults and free for ages 20 and younger.  Adults receive a free beverage ticket.

For grownups, wine and beer vendors are featured. Stranahan House is is at 335 SE 6th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale. Free parking is offered on the third and fourth floor of the Riverside Hotel parking garage, 600 SE Fourth Street, Fort Lauderdale.

Free events with live entertainment

Always Free 

  • The Plantation Historical Museum includes exhibits, occasional trivia games and other events, and often model train displays. The venue usually is open 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on  Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with some exceptions. Plantation Historical Museum, 954-797-2722, is at 511 N. Fig Tree Lane, Plantation 33317. Parking is free.
  • Downtown Hollywood Murals exhibit features about 45 vibrant murals on buildings and sidewalks in easy walkable route, and it's free. Information about the artwork and artists is online.

Events with a fee

Live entertainment in Pompano 

6  p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, September 14: Soulful Sundays in Pompano Beach, tickets are $10 and need to be purchased online.

Home Expo in Fort Lauderdale 

Fort Lauderdale Home Design and Remodeling Show is August 29-September 1 with discount opportunities offered while the promotion is offered. The indoor show is at the Greater Fort Lauderdale Broward Convention Center, 1950 Eisenhower Blvd., Fort Lauderdale 33316. Parking fees are $20.

Dine Out Lauderdale

Participating restaurants in Broward are offering fixed price menus in August and September for Dine Out Lauderdale promotions. Prices are often $35 for lunch and  $45, $60 and $75 for dinner. Often it's a three-course meal with appetizer, entrée and dessert.

Fall Festival in Sunrise 

Rides and games are included at a Fall Harvest Festival Saturday, September 27, at Welleby Park, 11100 NW 44th Street, Sunrise 33351. Entry is $5 for kids and free for adults.
