Bike safety in Weston

Family Night Bicycle Safety Bingo is 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 3, registration online is required and entry is free. The event includes safety information and helmet fittings. Participants are eligible to obtain free helmets while supplies last. The event is at Weston Regional Park, 20200 Saddle Club Road, Weston 33327.

Salsa Fest in Hollywood

The lively spicy sounds of Salsa are featured at Salsa Fest 2 p.m. – 11 p.m. Saturday, April 5 at ArtsPark on Hollywood Boulevard and Federal Highway. Entry is free and the event includes a variety of live entertainers. The entertainment includes Melina Almodovar.

Duck Fest Derby

Duck Fest Derby in 2025 is 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.  Saturday, April 5, at Esplanade Park, 400 SW 2nd Street, Fort Lauderdale.  The event includes entertainment and games, and the opportunities to participate in the Duck Derby with floating rubber ducks on the New River for the opportunity to earn prizes.

Earth Day events with free entry include

  • Earth Day festival in Sunrise is 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday April 12, and entry is free. The event includes a  kids' area, performances, and educational displays. The venue is Sawgrass Sanctuary park, with free entry and free parking
  • Earth Day The Weston Way  is 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday April 12 at Library Park, 4255 Bonaventure Boulevard, Weston
  • Marine Environmental Education (MEEC), 4414 N. Surf Road, Hollywood 33019, is featuring an  Earth Day  event 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12, on the beach. The event includes a beach cleanup. Other festivities include presentations and  educational programs. Parking fees Fridays and weekends are usually $4 an hour and $3 an hour Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays
  • Other Earth Day events in South Florida

Pinwheel Festival at library in Davie

The Pinwheel Festival and Resource Fair is 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.  April 12 at the Davie branch library, 4600 SW 82nd Avenue, Davie 33328.

The emphasis is on safety for youngsters.

The event includes activities, representatives of  youth safety organizations, face painting, rock painting, fire truck demonstration and entertainment for kids. Register online. Register online.

Dania After Dark

Dania After Dark BBQ version is a street festival with food and drink vendors, kids activities, and live bands. The event is 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.  April 12 with free entry. Events are outside Dania Beach City Hall, 100 W. Dania Beach Boulevard. Pets are permitted and parking is free.

Navy Days

US Navy Band Southeast performs at Las Olas Oceaside Park in Fort Lauderdale  about 12:30 p.m. – 3 p.m. Saturday April 26 and entry is free. Parking fees apply. The park is at 3000 E. Las Olas Blvd., Fort Lauderdale 33316.

Pembroke Pines event with drone show

The event in 2025 is 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, April 26, and entry is free.  Slides, rides, and performers are featured.

Jazz

Davie Jazz Festival is Saturday, April 5, at Bergeron Rodeo. Tickets are $25 before the event and $35 at the event. VIP tickets are $55 before the event and $70 at the event. Parking is $5.

Water parks and water playgrounds at parks in  Broward, some are free and relatively inexpensive.

Orchid & Bromeliad Show

International Orchid & Bromeliad Show at Flamingo Gardens is Saturday, April 19 and Sunday, April 20 with vendors, plant demonstrations  and entertainment.

Entertainment includes Polynesian Proud Productions and Bob Lyons Steel Drums. The event is included with regular fees to the attraction, $15 to $24.
