Festivals, entertainment & events in June in Broward

Refreshing dive-in films at public pools, entertainment galore at Juneteenth festivals, and lots of free events to rock out with popular bands are featured in June in Broward.  If you're interested in free and inexpensive things to do, here are some ideas.

Events in June in Broward

Oakland Park Pride

Events and entertainment for kids and grownups are featured at Oakland Park Pride, 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. June 6, with free entry. The venue is The venue is Pastorius Park, 4000 N. Dixie Highway, Oakland Park.

Dive-in film in Pompano

The animated film “Moana 2” is featured 8 p.m. June 6 at the aquatics facilities, 901 NW 10th St., Pompano Beach 33060. Entry is free.

Sweet Potato Pie Festival Juneteenth in Pompano Beach

Juneteenth Blues and Sweet Potato Pie Festival is 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday, June 14, and entry is free. The venue is Apollo Park, 1580 NW Third  Avenue, Pompano Beach 33060.

The event includes old-fashioned games, face painting, food vendors, fashion show, dance, historical displays performances including singer Kennadi Nikol, Delt the DJ, Dottie Kelly, Ashanti dance troupe,  Julius Sanna & Positively Africa, and others

Other Juneteenth events

  • Juneteenth in Tamarac

Juneteenth Freedom Festival is 6 p.m. Saturday, June 14 featuring Lavie, Valerie Tyson Band, live art presentation, and vendors offering food for purchase. The festival is at Tamarac Sports, 9901 NW 77th Street.

  • Juneteenth in Deerfield Beach

Rides, a Kids Zone and live entertainment including a drum line are featured at a Juneteenth festival 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. June 14  in Deerfield Beach.  The event is at the recreation building at 445 SW Second St., Deerfield Beach 33441.

  • Juneteenth in Coconut Creek

 Juneteenth festivities are 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Saturday, June 14, with free entry. The event includes food vendors and entertainment by O-Town Motown and African drummers and dancers.Bring blankets or portable seats. No pets, please. The venue is outside at City Hall, 4800 West Copans Road, Coconut Creek 33063.

Caribbean Heritage Festival in Sunrise

Steel drums and other island rhythms are featured at the festival 5 p.m. – 9 p.m. Saturday, June 14 in Sunrise and entry is free. 

The event includes

  • Lauderhill Steel Ensemble
  • Moko Jumbie and Junkanoos  
  • face painting

Tunes n Trucks in Sunrise

Tunes & Trucks Friday, June 20 is featuring a Juneteenth vibe. Food trucks are offered at 6 p.m., and entertainment is at 7 p.m. featuring Valerie Tyson Band.

Entry and parking are free. Lawn seats and blankets are recommended.

The festivities are at City Park, 6600 Sunset Strip.

Hollywood ArtWalk

Hollywood ArtWalk in downtown district is 6 p.m. – 10 p.m. June 21 and other third Saturdays with tours, live entertainment and vendors. Entry is free.

Miramar Taste of the Islands

Taste of the Islands is 5 p.m. – 10 p.m. Saturday, June 28, and entry is free.

The venue is the amphitheater at Miramar Regional Park, 16801 Miramar Parkway, Miramar

The event with Caribbean vibes includes food demonstrations and live entertainment. Entry is free. Parking is $8.56 if purchased online and $10 at the event. Food and beverages are offered for purchase.

Caribbean Heritage events at park in Fort Lauderdale

Las Olas Oceanside Park is offering free Caribbean Heritage  events in June 27-29 with food, live entertainment and art. The events are usually part of  LOOP Farmers Market which is open 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Sundays and entry is free.

Entertainment and events include:

  • 8:15 p.m. June 27  animated adventure film ‘Vivo'
  • 9:45 a.m. June 28 free yoga, register online 
  • 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. June 28 Sabor Latino Band
  • June 29 events include

Las Olas Oceanside Park is at 3000 E. Las Olas Boulevard, Fort Lauderdale. 

Fees for parking apply. Parking information is available online.

Parking in the area includes Las Olas Beach Parking Garage, 200 Las Olas Circle, with a PayByPhone payment option using the PayByPhone APP. Parking fees usually are $4 an hour.
